School Project
At GRG's we are always looking for ways to help our local community. In the last few years we have had school groups from Canada visiting us to go trekking and volunteer in local schools. We have therefore linked up with many schools in the Dhading region of Nepal and are committed to helping their development.
In this region there are other 30 schools in the local area. We are helping by sending volunteers up to improve the quality of the buildings, bring new learning materials including books, stationery and sports equipment, helping train the teachers and giving new lesson plans/ideas and helping to raise money to fund staff's salaries.
Dhading is one of the most beautiful regions of Nepal and perfectally situated so that you will get panaramic views of the Himalaya mountains including the Annapurna's, Langtang, and if your lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the infamous Mount Everest.
Whether you have a day or 6 months, we are looking for volunteers to go up to the region and to see what they can do to help. This is a non-profit trip so we are not asking for money (only that you cover your own costs) we are only asking that you give your time to help us enrich the lives of the local people.
By staying in Dhading you will get the best of both worlds. You can stay with a local host family in their home and become completley involved in all aspects of Nepali life or you can stay in our resort, Shreeban Nature Park where you will have Panaromic views of the Himalaya, not to mention the luxury of electricity and hot water!!
Our main aim in bringing volunteers to this area is to help the children and teachers for their future. Working in Dhading will be very rewarding and challenging at the same time. We are not some gap year organisation trying to make money through charity, we truely will not charge you and just ask for your help. This is by no means a 5 star holiday but the memories and friends you make here will last you a lifetime.
Trip Dates: Any day, for any length of time.
Trip Costs: We ask for a donation of 1000 nrs (just over $10) a day to cover your accommodation and food and to give a little to the local family you will be staying with.
This is a non-profit trip, obviously if you can give more this will be gratefully received and we will make sure it goes to the right places. You will also be required to pay for your transportation to and from Dhading which we can organise for you.
If you are a medical professional there are also many clinics in the area that need help. Physiotherapists would also be welcome in this area as would opticians and dentists. If you are interested in becoming involved then please email us.
