TRISULI RIVER rafting
- A great way to travel: avoid the bus and travel by river
- Great for year-round rafting and kayaking
- Combine with other activities such as canyoning and camping
- Paddle through impressive gorges all whilst keeping an eye on the local wildlife
Quite possibly the best day trip you can do in Nepal.
Why spend 8 hours on the bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara or Chitwan when you can raft half of it!
Trisuli Rafting is one of Nepal’s most popular river trips. The Trisuli has something to offer for everyone, from the most experienced kayaker to the first time rafter. It's an ideal year round river just a stones throw away from Kathmandu offering a pool drop style of big volume river. A rafting trip on the Trisuli will quench the white water desire of travellers with limited time in Nepal. The river meanders its way through scenic gorges and impressive valleys on its way to the plains. Although it gets a lot of bad press from the Lonely Planet, this is actually one of our all time favourite trips (sure it runs parallel to the road...but if your having a great time, who's going to notice, and the river often takes a different path and is much lower, you barely notice!) This trip leaves plenty of time to chill out, play rafting games, do some cliff jumps, swim and soak up the surreal atmosphere of Nepal's River life. It conveniently ends at our tented river side camp, Gurung Valley. Why not extend your trip and enjoy a night at our 1 million star hotel and soak up as much river life as you can! Get off the bus and on the river!
Whitewater Rafting :
To join a rafting trip on the Trisuli you need no previous experience. Great for the first timer and families.
A fantastic warm up river for those going on to the bigger rivers in Nepal. Plenty of small rapids and a few challenging ones. This river is also ideal for the first time kayaker wanting to learn a thing or two about whitewater. Check out our 4 days Kayak Clinic. Though it should be noted in the monsoon its definitely not a river for the faint of heart or less skilled.
OR...Why not try our 'ROCK AND RAFT' trip. One day rafting and one day canyoning with tented camp over night. It's our most popular trip!

We will meet you at 6.30am at our office in Thamel (or in Pokhara on request) to then catch the bus at 7am where we will drive for approx 3.5 hours to Chauraudi our starting point. From here our guides will spring into action, unloading the bus and getting the rafting gear ready. Every one will be given a life jacket, helmet and paddle. You will be able to change into your river clothes and have a quick cup of tea before the adventure begins.
We then head to the river for our detailed safety briefing. We will enjoy a fantastic day of rafting and a picnic lunch on an unspoiled beach. Big, bouncy, splashy fun! Just after lunch you will be greeted by the 8 main rapids of the river...'Ladies Delight, Monsoon, Landslide, Upset 1, Upset 2, Butterfly, Bezuli, and Surprise'. Make sure your your holding on because these are big bouncy rapids! We will raft 20km through the valley. The river is wide and there are opportunities to spot monkeys playing on the banks as we travel down. We will pass local fisherman and children walking to school as they shout 'bye bye' to the passing raft. For those brave enough, just before we reach our camp, there is a 10ft cliff jump which for many is a highlight.
We will then pull up to our camp, where you will be welcomed with a hot coco, camp fire and pop corn whilst the guides rustle you up a treat for your dinner. You'll be able to change in one of our bamboo huts and relax by our swimming pool. Enjoy the evening at our river side camp star gazing and enjoying the campfire. Our raft guides magically convert into musicians and often play traditional Nepali music around the campfire.
Or if you are just doing a DAY TRIP then we can drive you on to Kathmandu, Chitwan or Pokhara where you will arrive approximately 7pm.
If you've opted for our two day option we raft for the morning before pulling out of the river and having lunch. The river is a bit calmer on the second day, so you can try out kayaking, or even guiding if you wish to learn. Although this section is more relaxing, there are a few rapids worth noting - S Bend being one of them which snakes round the rapid as we pass the famous Manakamana Cable car.
We can then transfer you back to Kathmandu, Pokhara or down to Chitwan. Or spend another night at camp if you wish. There are always options of kayaking and canyoning in the same area.
