Other Rivers
Aside from the rivers listed in the rafting dropdown menu, there are a few that are ideal for kayakers that are a little less travelled. We have listed a brief outline of some of the rivers avaliable below. If you would like more information on these then please do not hestitate to get in touch. These trips run on request, or if you prefer to do things on your own we can help you organise your transport, kit, permits and accommodation.
Check out our multi river kayak expedition itinerary which covers many of these rivers.
The Rivers
Modi - For intermediate to experienced kayakers. Continuous class 4 whitewater, small volume, few portages and incredible mountain scenery. Great to combine with a trek to Annapurna Sanctuary or Poon Hill. At high water you can trek up to Jhunu spend the evening in the natural hot spings and paddle out the next day. Alternatively, if you are short of time, there is a great section below the dam that is a gem of a day trip.
Belephi - Described as a boulder garden, short and fun, a greats day trip if you are heading in near the Bhote Kosi region. You can expect an unspoilt valley with incredible views of the mounains. Depending on your ability there are several put ins.
Bheri - Many kayakers my find this an easy run, but the scenery, local villages and white beaches make this a worthwhile trip. Great for fishing trip if you are interested.
Buri Gandaki - A great trek and kayak combo. Little travelled and relatively easy. If you are looking for more of a challenge you will need to travel further up.
Humla - For expert kayakers. At 400kms of Class 3-5 whitewater, one of the greatest whitewater trips in the world. One of the most remote expeditions in the West of Nepal. Logistically, it is a bit of a mission to get to, but well worth it when you are there. We will be running this trip once a year during the winter months when the water is alittle lower. Maila is planning a trip to the Humla this Autumn and is welcoming and experienced kayakers to join him.
Arun - Little travelled, unspoilt, fun and famous are the words I would use to describe this river. Can be rafted or kayaked. Similar to the Sun Kosi.
Dudh Kosi - Locally known as the 'relentless river of Everest', we would only recommend this river for serious expedition kayakers. Only been attempted a few times in the passed. Email for details. Maila is planning on running this river around April 2013, if experienced kayakers would like to join then please email
Tamba Kosi - Can now be done in a day trip from the Bhote Kosi region. Short and sweet, this is a nice way to start the Sun Kosi river to miss the first few flatter days of the river.
We can mix and match any river to make unique trips ideally suited for your style of kayaking. Just becasue it's not listed, doesn't mean that we don't do it. Email us and we'll help you organise your Himalayan adventure.
