Kayak Clinics

Confirmed groups - 23rd Feb, 12th March

We think that kayaking is fun and we also think that learning to kayak should be fun too. Nepal is the ideal destination to learn to kayak or enhance your skills offering warm waters and warm weather. We could go on and on and tell you how well trained we are, how safe our clinics are and how much river experience we have, but we’ll just say when you come paddle with us, you are not only going to learn to kayak, but you are going to love it! You will learn to love and respect the river and Nepal’s rich and vibrant river culture. In your boat or out of it you are going to have some big splashy fun!

In our clinics we will cover the basics of whitewater kayaking, including eskimo and guitar rolls, bracing, river crossing, eddying in and out, reading rapid lines, balance, rope work and you will take on up to Class III rapids!

Our learn to kayak river session are tailored to meet your individual needs and open for complete novices to intermediate paddlers who wish to improve their skills. We always have one instructor to 2 clients so can go as fast or as slow as you need. So come join us and learn to kayak with the Himalayan Whitewater Champion.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Depart Kathmandu early and travel to 3 ½ hours to our camp. Once we arrive there we will set the camp up and have a spot of lunch and get to know the staff. After you will be given your equipment and shown how to use it. We will then spend the afternoon on a flat section of the river getting used to being in a kayak and learning how to cross the river and hopefully build your confidence.

Day 2:

We will spend the morning doing skills training and giving the eskimo roll a try on a flat section of the river. After lunch we will paddle down 7km to Manakamana the cable car. We will attempt some very small rapids and teach you how to read the river. Time will be spent practising eddy-ing in and out.

Day 3:

Today we will put the skills you have learnt into practice. We will paddle from Fishing down to Kuring Ghat encountering several Grade II/II+ rapids (Surprise, Butterfly and Bezuli are the biggest we will encounter). There will also be time to practice your roll and general kayak skills including rope work and bracing. Finishing at Kuring Ghat in time for dinner and a nice camp fire.

Day 4:

By the last day we have two options depening on your skills and confidence. For those of you that are speeding ahead we will take you to Chauraudi and you will paddle down to Fishling, taking on the big rapids this river has to offer including 'Ladies Delight' and 'Landslide'. If however you are not ready for this yet we will take you on the lower section of the river and paddle to Mugling.

If, like us, you become hooked on kayaking, additional days can be added or we can take you to another river to practice your newly acquired skills! If you don't have 4 days spare this trip can be shortened to fit your schedule.

Laura Karvinen-UK- "The kayaking trip was my most memorable   experience while in Nepal! Absolutely lovely, well trained staff and fantastically organised!   Enough instructors with a great sense of humor who made it fun and safe at the same time!   Everything on our trip ran smoothly... from tents being put up for us, all great kayaking   equipment... delicious meals and even a self built toilet for us all for an unbelievably generous   price. Overall fabulous!"
