Frequently Asked Questions...

How Fit Do I Need To Be? For the majority of our trips a high level of fitness is not required, however we believe that the fitter you are the more you will get out of your trip. Some of our trips are more physically demanding than others so a good level of fitness may be required.

Do I need a visa/insurance? In short, yes to both. Every body needs a visa to enter Nepal. These can be applied for in your home country before you travel on or arrival at the airport and border. And it is a requirement to travel with GRG's that you have insurance that covers you for the activities that you are partaking in.

What will I be eating? All our guides are also master chefs! On the rivers you wil be eating pasta, rice, meat, curries, fruit, tuna salads, all sorts! and if there's something special that you would like, just let us know and we'll do our best. You'll be amazed what our guides can rustle up on an open fire. We buy our food fresh from the local villages along the way. Whilst trekking, we usually get all our meals at the local tea houses, meals like Dhal Bhat, pastas and soups are the norm. Oh and let us know in advance if your a veggie/vegan.

When kayaking or rafting how long will we be on the water? On most rafting and kayaking trips you will be on the water for about 5 hours a day. On kayak clinics we can do as little or as much as you like. If you want we can carry on until the sun goes down to get that eskimo nailed!! It's your holiday so we can do whatever you like.

Do I need to be able to swim? It is not necessary that you can swim to come on our rafting trips as we have all the necessary safety equipment and safety kayakers. Although confidence in water is an obvious bonus.

Is equipment provided? Yes, on all our trips we will provide everything that you need right down to toilet paper. All helmets, dry bags, buoyancy aids, throw lines, sprayjackets, you name it we have it! All you need to worry about is your personal clothing, torches, towels and those kind of things. Id you are unsure what you need to pack send us and email and we'll send you a complete list of what we think you need. Although on most trips, less is more!!

Do I need to have any previous rafting experience? No, we have all the experience you need and will teach you everything you need to know to be safe on the river and by the time you leave, you will be an experienced rafter!

Will we have safety kayakers? On all GRG river trips, no matter how big or small, we will always have an appropriate number of safety kayakers... don't worry, 'safety first' is out motto here!

How many people will be in the raft? Rafts can hold 6-8 people plus your guide. So if you are coming with your friends, we can usually get you all together!

How many people will be on my trip? We try and keeps groups small, so that we have less impact on the environment and can give you a more personal experience. Usually around 6-10 people per trip. However if you would like a private group just let us know. Or if you are a single and looking to join a group, we can hook you up with a great group of people.

Can we get pictures of the trip? We have a camera with us at all times and have dry boxes to keep yours in so we can get them out on the flatter parts of the river. However river trips and electronical good are not always the best mix. You are responsible for your camera whilst on the river, especialy when it is out of the box.

Glasses or Contact Lenses? Either work and we know people that paddle with both. If you do wear glasses you should bring a strap so they do not fall off...if not we can always use some trusty duck tape!

What is the weather like? Temperatures usually ranging between 20 - 40 centigrade, your biggest problem will not be how to stay warm but how to stop getting sunburn! However in the winter months the evenings do get rather chilly so hoodies are a must and we can provide full spray jackets and wetsuits to keep you warmer in the water. Rafting will still go ahead even if its rainy, your going to get wet anyway right!?

How much money will I need? Whilst on trips with GRG's most of your expenses are covered. All you will need money for is additional snacks, your bar bill and any goddies you pick up along the way.
