You have the chance to explore the lifestyle of the Himalayan people, their religion, customs and traditions. Jiri to Everest Base Camp Back in the day before highways and light aircraft, the only way to get into the Khumbu region was by trekking from just outside Kathmandu, nowadays with the advancement of the road and the development of the airport in Lukla this is not necessary, but should you choose to do things the old fashioned way and follow in the footsteps of our pioneers, then you can commence your trek in Jiri and head to Lukla and then up to Base Camp, just like the original mountaineers and explorers into this area. The trek winds its way up and down through the jungle and Sherpa villages and then upwards into the mountainous Khumbu Region. What better way to take in this region than by beginning at the bottom and reaching the heights of base camp by your own two feet. This certainly offers the achievement of a life time. |
